ITINERARY
Sep 11 – Day 1. Arrive UB
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar: Upon landing at UB Airport, you’ll be greeted by the cool mountain air and the warm hospitality of the locals. Collect your luggage and proceed to the arrival area. As you exit the airport, you’ll meet with a professional guide who will assist you throughout your stay. They will provide valuable insights, answers to your questions, and ensure a smooth travel experience. After the introductions, hop into a comfortable vehicle and transfer to Kempinski.
Sep 12 – Day 2. Flight to Khovd city (Western Mongolia- 2 hours flight) – Drive to Olgii city for 3 hrs
After arrival, we drive further to another city for 3 hrs and check into local hotel. (BLD)
Sep 13 – Drive to Altai Mountains
After breakfast drive to Shiveet Khairkhan sacred mountain.We load our luggage and drive via Ulaanhus over desert mountain landscapes. We will find numerous petroglyphs and Turkic stones along the Sogoog River basin. Bayan-Ölgii is rich in archaeological remains, as a reminder of the Bronze Ages and the time of the Huns and Turkic invasions. At Shiveet Hairhan Mountain, where numerous Tuvan nomads live, in Altai Tavanbogd National Park, we will pitch our camp. Shiveet Hairhan is sacred for these local people, why no hunting here. Back to Shiveet Hairhan Uul we will be able to view the biggest petroglyphs from the second period of the Huns (200 B.C.). The Huns were the reason for the Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huangdi to build and finish the Great Wall of China at this time. On the third day, trek back on the far side of the Tsaagan River and pitch camp. Here we may have a chance to view Siberian Ibex (Capra sibirica).Overnight in tents (BLD)
Sep 14-15 Day 4-5: Tavanbogd massif – Horse riding 5,6 hrs, 16 km one way of horse riding a day
We will load our equipment on to pack-camels – perhaps also pack-horses – and trek for the 16km toward the base camp of the snow-capped Tavanbogd massif. We will pitch camp next to the 20km long Potanina glacier – the biggest of the twenty glaciers in Mongolian Altai – and remain there for two nights. Tavanbogd means “the Holy Five” referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul is the highest in Mongolia, 4374 meters above sea level. Quite a considerable height at this altitude. The other peaks are named Nairamdal, Ulgii, Burget and Naran. It is a stunning setting with the awe-inspiring massif of high snowcapped peaks. (BLD)
Sep 16 – Day 6: Drive back to Ulgii city & check into Eagle Dreams hotel
Sep 17 – Day 7: Eagle Festival in Sagsai Village
After breakfast, we will drive to Eagle Festival location & to your hotel in the evening. (BLD)

Day 1: The festival kicks off with a grand opening ceremony, where you’ll be immersed in the vibrant colors, traditional costumes, and energetic performances of the local Kazakh community. Take in the captivating atmosphere as you mingle with participants and fellow spectators, all sharing the excitement and anticipation of the upcoming events. Throughout the day, witness awe-inspiring displays of eagle hunting prowess as skilled hunters demonstrate their abilities. Marvel at the agility and precision of the golden eagles as they soar through the sky, swiftly descending upon their target with remarkable accuracy. Cheer along with the crowd as each hunter showcases their unique techniques and the incredible bond they have formed with their majestic companions. Immerse yourself in the rich Kazakh culture by enjoying traditional music, dance performances, and sampling delicious local cuisine. Engage in conversations with the hunters, learning about their ancestral hunting traditions, the art of training eagles, and the importance of this centuries-old practice in their way of life.
Sep 18-19 Day 8-9. Drive to Blue Goat national park 140km – horse riding, 5-6 hrs a day, 7-8 km a day
We will drive 3-4 hrs to reach a eagle hunter family & spend the rest of the days here riding horses around this family with a breathe taking view. Overnight in wooden house of Eagle hunter. (BLD)
Sep 20 – Day 10. Drive to Khovd city & rest (120 km off-road)
After breakfast, we drive to Khovd & check in to local hotel. In the afternoon, free day to explore the city. (BLD)
Sep 21 – Day 11. Flight back to Ulaanbaatar from Khovd city
After early breakfast, transfer to Ulgii airport and take a flight (2 hours) to UB. Meet our guide and transfer to hotel. Today you will have a free day to do shopping and exploring the capital of Mongolia. After checking in, venture out and explore the sprawling city of retro architecture, thrilling nightlife, wild traffic and exciting commerce. There’s plenty to see, do and eat. Overnight in Kempinski. (B)
Sep 22- Day 12. City tour
After breakfast, venture out and explore the sprawling city of retro architecture, thrilling nightlife, wild traffic and exciting commerce. There’s plenty to see, do and eat. We will do city tour starting from Gandan monastery, Sukhbaatar main square, Zaisan Memorial, State department store, followed by dinner in Mongolian traditional restaurant. Overnight in Kempinski. Sep 23 – Day 13. Depart UB
Early breakfast and transfer to UB airport. Take a flight back to home. (B)
